Our client relationships are based on written agreements in which we commit to provide specific services the client has selected. Available services include:

  • Marketing and placement of your insurance, taking advantage of our access to all major insurers, in both the domestic and international markets. Unless otherwise agreed upon by you in writing, we place coverage only with carriers that have an A. M. Best Company rating of "Excellent".
  • Recommending appropriate alternative risk financing techniques, including retrospective rating plans, retention plans, self-insurance and non-insurance transfers.
  • Analyzing financial statements and operations, to assist in your calculation of business-interruption exposures to loss.
  • Reviewing contracts and leases, to assure that they do not require insurance protection beyond what is afforded by your policies.
  • Reviewing internal company policies and procedures - such as those concerning employment practices, training, procurement, customer relations, advertising and public relations - to advise you on their insurance and risk management implications.
  • Analyzing the insurance and risk implications of your plans for changes in operation, acquisition or disposal of property, or relocation.

CIMA's Claims Department is a key part of our effort to provide services that benefit clients the most. Claims management at CIMA includes reporting individual claims to the insurer, following them through until they are resolved accurately and fairly, documenting the progress of each claim for the client, monitoring reserves, and working with the account executive and loss control staff at CIMA to ensure that loss-control activities on the client's behalf are responsive to actual claims and incidents. Additional services include:

  • Providing written reports, at an agreed-upon frequency, on claims activity on a year-to-date basis, along with detailed reports on open claims.
  • Reviewing the impact of claims on potential return premiums or additional premiums, under loss-sensitive rated policies.
  • Following any disaster, providing a senior staff member to assist in recovery.
  • Developing, implementing and administering proprietary incident and claim reporting and analysis systems, for those clients who need such systems.
  • Assisting the client in management and administration of claims made under self-insurance plans.

Another feature of CIMA's services that distinguishes us from most insurance brokers is our in-house Loss Control Department, offering our clients services such as these:

  • Reviewing all operations for risk identification, hazard assessment and loss control suggestions. Areas often addressed include fire prevention, unsafe work conditions or practices, fleet management and maintenance, hazards related to storage or use of materials and equipment, and the risk associated with service or product failures.
  • Evaluating the new client's existing loss control programs and policies.
  • Helping the client establish and maintain consistent and effective accident investigation and reporting procedures.
  • Advising in personnel selection and management, including the issues of hiring standards and background checks.
  • Providing or assisting in providing training, including supervisory training, and establishing safety accountability and incentive programs.
  • Reviewing claims and aggregate loss data to identify trends and recommend appropriate refinements of the client's loss control program.
  • Developing programs for management of injury and illness, including early return-to-work programs and Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Developing comprehensive disaster response and recovery plans.
  • Assisting with regulatory compliance such as OSHA standards, EPA or DOT requirements, Americans With Disabilities Act compliance, etc.
  • Providing, or assisting in providing, guidance on security of information.
  • As needed, designing special loss analytical programs supported by detailed incident and claim reporting systems.
