Risk Control Services

CIMA makes available a wide variety of risk management services, on a fee basis separate from the sale of insurance. We offer these services through our subsidiary, Risk Control Services. Some of them are listed below.

Examples of Services Available Through RCS:

  • Reviewing all operations for risk identification, hazard assessment and loss control suggestions. Areas often addressed include fire prevention, unsafe work conditions or practices, fleet management and maintenance, hazards related to storage or use of materials and equipment, and the risk associated with service or product failures.
  • Designing specifications for insurance and risk management programs, issuing requests for proposals and evaluating competing proposals.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and operations, to assist in calculation of business-interruption exposures to loss.
  • Reviewing premises lease agreements, equipment lease agreements, vehicle lease agreements, contracts with independent contractors, and other contracts/agreements/leases, to assure that they do not require insurance protection beyond what is afforded by the client's insurance policies.
  • Reviewing and analyzing internal company policies and procedures - such as those concerning employment practices, training, procurement, customer relations, advertising or public relations - and providing written comments on their risk management and insurance implications.
  • Reviewing and analyzing the risk management and insurance implications of the client's plans for changes in operation, acquisition or disposal of property, or relocation.
  • Receiving, reviewing and assisting in the management and administration of all claims made under self-insurance plans.
  • Following any disaster, providing one of our senior staff members to assist in recovery. Services can include assistance in making arrangements with suppliers and contractors, furnishing temporary office services and staff support, and public relations functions.
  • Integrating the management of claims under workers' compensation, group health anddisability plans, to prevent overlap of claims or payments.
  • Designing a claim information management system customized for the client's needs, inputting relevant claims information, and assisting in the management, administration and analysis of this information.
  • Developing, implementing and administering an incident reporting system, and capture and analyze the data that results.
  • Evaluating the new client's existing loss control programs and policies.
  • Helping the client establish and maintain consistent and effective accident investigation and reporting procedures.
  • Advising in personnel selection and management, including the issues of hiring standards and background checks.
  • Providing or assisting in providing training, including supervisory training, and establishing safety accountability and incentive programs.
  • Reviewing claims and aggregate loss data to identify trends and recommend appropriate refinements of the client's loss control program.
  • Developing programs for management of injury and illness, including early return-to-work programs and Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Developing comprehensive disaster response and recovery plans.
  • Providing, or assisting in providing, guidance on security of information.
  • Assisting with regulatory compliance such as OSHA standards, EPA or DOT requirements, Americans With Disabilities Act compliance, etc.
  • As needed, designing special loss analytical programs supported by detailed incident and claim reporting systems.
